Photographer Johnnie Shand Kydd’s addiction to Naples has made for a gritty show at London’s Estorick

In a departure from his famous snaps of artist friends, comes a candid and haunting portrayal of a city which Shand Kydd had never previously encountered.

In 2000, the photographer was invited to spend three months in Naples where a bittersweet love affair ensued. “I developed a relationship with the city something akin to a drug habit, returning again and again over the next eight years,” he explains…
